Our Program
Children with dyslexia need one-on-one tutoring. They need to hear, see, touch, write and say the letters and sounds of the alphabet. They cannot learn to read in standard classroom groups. But they can learn.
At Windy Row, each child works with a personal tutor for one hour, two times a week. Our specially trained tutors create an individual program for each child, using the multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham method.
Windy Row is an approved provider of Supplemental Education Services for New Hampshire and our services may be paid for by your school district. Currently, we serve the Monadnock Region, including the Contoocook Valley (Conval), Harrisville, Jaffrey-Rindge Coop, Keene, Lyndeborough, Marlborough and Masenic school districts.
Most children gain one year of reading skill for each year of tutoring—sometimes they gain two or even three years. Once they learn how to read, they keep their skills forever.
The International Dyslexia Association defines dyslexia as “a specific learning disability that is neurological in origin.” Students with dyslexia come to Windy Row Learning Center from the Conval, Conant, Hillsboro, Keene and Masenic school districts. We strive to accept every child who needs our help, regardless of ability to pay.
