A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Cheryl received her Master’s degree in education from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and has taken extensive graduate and post-graduate courses and seminars in the Orton-Gillingham method, educational leadership and special education. Her certifications include Orton-Gillingham certification and C.A.G.S. with Reading and Writing Specialist certification.

A member of the International Dyslexia Association, Cheryl gives presentations about dyslexia and reading disabilities to many civic groups (Lions, Kiwanis, Masons) and granting organizations. Among other achievements, her intensive reading therapy programs have enabled elementary students to close the gap between their below grade level reading and their grade level peers. By combining the Orton-Gillingham method with other intensive reading therapy, students can often make a multi-year leap in skills in one year.

TUTORS at Windy Row Learning Center must attend 45 hours of seminars directed by Cheryl Orcutt, the Executive Director, and then complete 100 hours of tutoring at the Center under supervision. Tutors must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Orton-Gillingham method and an ability to work creatively and compassionately with children.

“Parents and colleagues trust us to collaborate with them to meet the needs and interests of the children. We’re very proud of that trust.”
